When moving day arrives it is best to be prepared. These are measures you can take that will save you time and money. These Moving Tips are brought to you by High Level Movers, and is part of our commitment to customer satisfaction.

    • Start early! Packing takes longer than most people expect, so try not to leave everything to the night before.
    • Ensure that all packing is complete prior to your movers arriving. If you need assistance with packing, High Level Movers offers packing services — call us at 416-333-0259 for more details.
    • Choose the right number of movers. While two movers will cost you less per hour, it is often that the bill balances itself out with three or four movers. More man power guarantees you a faster move.  If you have very heavy items, difficult access (like several flights of stairs), or a larger move, then an extra man would ensure the move is completed in a reasonable amount of time.
    • Downsize before your move by selling, donating, and disposing of unwanted items.
    • Make sure all drawers and dressers are emptied prior to our arrival.
    • Choose the right storage type. We offer wardrobe boxes and moving bins for rent at low cost. You can also purchase storage materials at your local Canadian Tire or Home Depot.
    • Try to use the stackable boxes/bins, as this makes it easier for your movers to load the dolly and the truck.
    • Ensure that liquids, food items, toiletries, and cleaning products are secure to avoid possible spills. You may also label the boxes so your movers are aware that there are liquid inside.
    • Label boxes. Boxes with breakable contents should be marked “fragile“. You may also indicate which room the belong in, ensuring a speedy unloading.
    • Do not pack in boxes dangerous/ flammable items, or animals.
    • High Level Movers is happy to provide disassembling/assembling services at no extra charge.
    • Do not overfill large boxes as they may break. Also, if a box is too heavy it may need to be repacked.
    • Try packing fragile items with pillows, towels, and bedding. This will protect them and save you money on bubble wrap.
    • Write an inventory list of items either on the each box, or on a piece of paper.
    • Ensure that boxes are properly taped and closed.
    • Pack an emergency go-to bag with priority items that you can carry with you and access during your move. Possible items to pack include: Laptop, chargers, medication, diapers, wipes, change of clothes, towel, toilet paper, toiletries, snacks, water, child & pet toys and entertainment, etc.
    • Have the movers assemble your beds before they leave.  You will be thankful after a long day’s move!
